The Riad Bab Agnaou is named after the well-known gate in the ramparts of the Kasbah built by Yacoub El Mansour in 1190. Situated in the golden triangle of this area, near the Royal Palace, the Saadien tombs, the Badia palace and the Jemaâ El Fna, it is easily accessible by car, taxi or barouche.
It has been carefully restored in the pure Marrakchi tradition, displaying the treasures of Moroccan craftsmanship: finely carved elegant pillars, zellige mosaïcs, tadelakt walls, carved cedar and ancient wrought iron.
After the bustle of the streets you will appreciate the calm of the patio with his birdsong and the murmur of his fountain while you sip on a drink in the loggia (bhou).
You can meet other guests in one of the public areas and experience the Moroccan style of living, or choose a more private corner. The terrace, backing on to the rempart walls of the Kasbah, has a wonderful view over the city: the Badia palace with his storks nests, the Koutoubia mosque and the Atlas mountains, snow-capped in winter. |
